TalkEnglish launches new independent study program!
Don’t have time to teach TalkEnglish? That’s okay! We just designed a new TalkEnglish Independent Study program so that students can complete the entire TalkEnglish program online independently. Students can now read the book of John online, practice their pronunciation with the free TalkEnglish Pronunciation Teacher, check their own answers, post answers to discussion questions, watch movies about Jesus, and submit decisions after every lesson. TalkEnglish students can make decisions to read the Bible every day, go to church, pray, serve someone, share their faith, confess sin, and even be baptized! TalkEnglish is a tool to help our church to reach every tribe, language, and nation with the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you don’t have time to become an instructor, then simply send your international friends to our website (www.talkenglishprogram.com) and we’ll take care of them! If they want to become a disciple of Jesus, we’ll send them your way!
Wedding bells ring for TalkEnglish!
TalkEnglish celebrated it first wedding when TalkEnglish graduate Jamie Hua married disciple James Thomas. James introduced his Chinese friend Jamie to the TalkEnglish program where Jamie was able to learn more about Jesus and become his devoted follower. The Lord blessed James powerfully for his faith. Not only did James receive a new Christian friend, but he also gained a beautiful Christian wife. Congratulations, James and Jamie!
A time to rejoice, a time to mourn
Ten, a Thai Buddhist restaurant owner, was one of our first TalkEnglish students. She and her family hosted our TalkEnglish kickoff party in Dallas and became a dear friend to many disciples in our region. Ten suffered from a terminal auto-immune disease, which gave us many opportunities to pray with her and encourage her with scriptures after she graduated from TalkEnglish. In May 2014, Ten entered the hospital. To the glory of Christ, Ten made her everlasting decision to turn away from Buddhism and give her life over to Jesus. Ten passed away less than two days after her baptism, but her last words were “Jesus is my Lord!” Thirty of Ten’s Buddhist friends heard the gospel of Jesus at her funeral, and now her eight-year-old son attends church with us every Sunday. We praise the Lord for the amazing work of the Holy Spirit when one person hears the gospel of Christ.
TalkEnglish hires first intern!
L, a student in China, began studying TalkEnglish two years ago online after hearing a lecture I had given at a University on our second TalkEnglish mission trip to China. Lively graduated from TalkEnglish and regularly attended our summer CONNECT! International Online Church. When fall began, L organized the only Christian worship, prayer, and Bible study group on her campus, modeling what she learned online. We hired L as our first TalkEnglish intern to construct our new TalkEnglish Independent Study program so that online students would be able to complete TalkEnglish independently. L now attends one of our sister churches in China and was recently baptized into the powerful name of Jesus. Congratulations, L, and welcome to the family of Christ!
