New Shoes Create Grateful Hearts
Thanks to the Helsinki Church of Christ, and a substantial discount given by Bata Shoe Company, each student at the Ashula School of Hope and the Jamgara School of Hope received a new pair of shoes. In the fall of 2011, approximately 268 students benefitted from the generosity of these donations.

Now is a great time to start a Chapter of HOPE worldwide in your congregation! Chapters are locally operated by appointed congregation members and are centrally managed from HOPE worldwide Headquarters in Wayne, Pennsylvania.
While becoming a Chapter has many benefits, we are most passionate about giving disciples the opportunity to serve the poor in their communities and congregations. We have found that when disciples volunteer it strengthens their faith and ultimately leads to a more grateful, giving, and God glorifying church.

My wife and I have spent the last month living in India among the people of this fascinating nation. The churches are growing and the work for the poor of HOPE foundation is making a difference in the lives of many of the country's poor. Through the great work of Country Director Ian Correa and his team of dedicated workers and volunteers, HOPE foundation and HOPE worldwide are bringing hope and changing lives in 26 cities across the whole of India.

April 5, 2012 - In Abidjan, the sounds of music, dancing and football along with the bustle of people back at work has replaced the noise of gunfire and mortars exploding during last year's civil war. Everywhere you look people are on the street. It’s so exciting to see the city come back to life after the war when over 3,000 people were killed.

The Volunteer Challenge - La Paz, Bolivia
In La Paz, children are starving and living on the streets, they are abused, cold and alone. Young teen and even pre-teen mothers are caring for their own children, because they are victims of rape and abuse, usually from their own family environment. Many of you dream of helping the abandoned and unloved, who occupy more territory than those who can fend for themselves.

Rebuilding Japan: One Year After Tragedy
Sunday, March 11 marks the one year anniversary of the devastating earthquake and ensuing tsunami that left much of Japan in ruins. In the aftermath of the most powerful known earthquake ever to hit Japan, the country was faced with a stark reality: thousands of residents killed or injured, millions of citizens without shelter and access to basic supplies and billions of dollars worth of economic damage. Now, one year later, Japan is in a period of transition, rebuilding what was lost and creating new hope for the future. Through it all, HOPE worldwide Japan has been committed to providing long-term assistance to some of the hardest hit communities.
Anointed for Service: The NCAB and NYAC Convene for Annual Meeting
Philadelphia, PA — On February 24, 2012 HOPE worldwide volunteers who form the National Chapter Advisory Board (NCAB) and the National Youth Advisory Council (NYAC) met together in Philadelphia for the 2nd annual Servant Leadership Retreat. The theme was “Anointed: Ordinary People, Doing Extraordinary Things”—an appropriate theme for this group of servant leaders comprised of teens, college students and working professionals who are engaged full-time in other pursuits yet still find a way to give back to those in need around them.
