sheila presley jones"A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones." -- Proverbs 12:4

I talked with a friend of mine whose husband is not a disciple. I love her heart and her desire to build up her husband. She shared the above scripture with me and said, “I go after being a crown to my husband. I want to make him feel like a king.” This of course does not mean that we want to become chambermaids for the king. It does mean, however, that we want to

  • show respect

  • be aware of and sensitive to his needs

  • do the things that make him feel loved

  • build him up instead of criticize him

  • be protective of him when he is vulnerable

We are going to look at the lives of three women in the Bible and how they treated their husbands. We will meet

  • a man who’s up,

  • a man who’s down, and

  • a man you don’t want to be around.

Two of the wives did not build up their husbands, did not encourage them and did not make them feel like kings—though, in fact, one of them really was a king! One wife, however, did show respect for her husband—a man who most would say did not deserve it.
