Courage in Papua New Guinea (Martha Dui recognized as women's leader)

Port Moresby, the capital, is consistently voted as one of the worst places in the world to live in terms of economy, education, and social progress in general. Papua New Guinea is still removed from the rest of the world. It has not experienced the kind of exposure and progress a lot of other places have in recent years. Most of its tribal and village life is still intact. There are still many parts that have not been reached by western civilization. Even though that might be a blessing in some ways, it also presents many challenges for the disciples of that country.
Martha Dui became a Christian thirteen years ago as a young married woman. She has a heart of gold. Her life has not always been easy. She did not get the benefit of a great education. She only studied in school till 3rd grade due to family restrictions.
She and her husband Francis have served the church faithfully and sacrificially for many years. Martha begins her day at 4.30 AM. She then takes the bus to drop her three children at school. She is busy all day meeting the needs of the disciples and the lost. She comes back home by 6PM and takes care of her family since it is not safe to go out any more at that time of night.
Martha may not have advanced degrees or the comforts so many of us enjoy, yet she leads the women in the three Papua New Guinea churches with a commitment that would challenge most of us.
On October 10th, at the South pacific Australia Conference in Melbourne, Francis and Martha Dui were officially appointed as the leaders for the Papua New Guinea congregations. Martha is a woman of courage worthy of imitation!
