The glory of the Lord shone brightly on the Greenville (SC) Church of Christ’s Women’s Day event, “Crazy Love”, held May 21, 2011, at the Greenville Hilton. More than 100 women from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, came together for a day of food, fun and celebration of God’s “crazy love” for us. At the end of the day, both body and soul were full.

The celebration kicked off with a spirited song by Voices of the Spirit, a group of 13- to 18-year-old boys and girls from the Atlanta Metropolitan Christian Church (AMCC). Under the direction of Tami Wilder, these young people raised their voices in praise through a number of powerful, soul-stirring melodies throughout the day. Adding her soulful touch through song was Angela Altman, also from the AMCC.

"This is what I have been searching for! Can I visit your church, too?" said a first-time visitor.

There were moving testimonials by two Greenville church sisters about how they came to know Christ and experienced his amazing "crazy" love. One told of how disciples introduced her to the Lord during her college days, and the other how she came to know Christ later in life. Although their stories were different, each demonstrated how God's love can reach us at any stage of life.

We all shared a time of fellowship over a wonderful meal. Old friendships were reignited and new ones established. The room was definitely filled with a "crazy love" that is seldom found in the world!

The main event of the day was the powerful message delivered by Thereasa Kirkpatrick, women's ministry leader for the Greenville Church of Christ. Thereasa presented God's Word in such a way that each participant left with a deeper sense of His love for us and how we, in turn, can share that love with others. Souls were definitely touched and tears were shed.

Through tears, one visiting friend stated that Thereasa's message went straight to her heart! She felt it was like God was speaking directly to her with His word.

"It is amazing to see how God can bring together women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. There was much laughter and lots of hugs!" said one Greenville disciple.

In closing, the women of the Greenville Church of Christ want to thank God for blessing us with a Women’s Day event that was inspiring, meaningful and challenging. Participating gave each of us a glimpse of what heaven will be like. It was an excellent opportunity to reach out to our relatives, friends, co-workers, even strangers, and to put our very own "crazy love" into action. And because of that, many lives were and will be changed. To God be the glory!
