These are a few statements that describe our recent Women's Evening. From the start when Ronke Kokoruwe and Jane Whitworth welcomed us, sparkling on stage as they talked us through the event, to the end when Bola Sowoolu said a prayer of thanksgiving, our hearts were stirred and our faith stretched as we were called to dream.
It was obvious that a lot of planning and prayers had gone into the event because it was just what we needed in London - a great opportunity to bring together sisters from near and far, colleagues, neighbours and friends. Women poured into the venue, excited about the evening ahead and yet unsure as to what to expect. They were not disappointed!
As we sang songs, watched performances, listened to heart melting testimonies, and danced with our teen girls raising the roof in song together, we longed for more..
As Terrie Fontenot brought us the Word focused on The Woman at the Well and how Jesus had known her intimately, loved her deeply, transformed her life and given her new dreams, we were brought even closer together... As we watched snippets from the lives of women like Michelle Obama, Coco Chanel and a number of sisters from within our congregation, we were inspired to dream again, to think outside the box and believe that with God and through faith in Him, we can achieve more than we ever imagined.
We also had a choice of life-skills workshops where sisters shared about Relationships, Work-Life Balance and Physical, Spiritual and Emotional Health. It was encouraging to watch so many sisters use their different talents throughout the event to make it a spectacular evening!
At the end, the fellowship was electrifying! Women embracing, crying, thankful, moved by what they had encountered. We ended on a high and could not have asked for more. It was refreshing once again to see with our own eyes how purposeful and powerful a life lived for Christ is. We truly have the answer to the hunger in the eyes and hearts of women living without God.
And as the venue emptied itself of the sea of nourished women, each chosen by God to be there to experience the evening - an important question echoed through the hall - "And the date for the next event is ...?"
