The Greater Baltimore Church of Christ is excited to announce the Annapolis, Maryland Church. After two years of prayer, missions giving and dreaming; God has taken our dreams and is now ready to change them into reality. With God leading us, we plan to hold the inaugural service of the Greater Annapolis Church of Christ in September, 2010 . . .
When the Lord brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with shouts of joy. Then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’ The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like streams in the Negev. Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him. Psalm 126
We have already begun the process of selecting the couple who will lead this mission team. Several couples responded to our article in Disciples Today, and are interested in interviewing for this role. Our prayer is that by June 1st God will make it clear who will lead this great work. The chosen couple will move to Annapolis this summer and assist in the finalization of the mission team formation.
Currently there is a Family Group meeting in the Annapolis area and this group will be joined with other disciples from Baltimore and our surrounding sister churches, disciples who feel called by the Spirit to be part of this mission planting. It is our dream and prayer this small “mustard seed” group will grow into a mighty kingdom of disciples in the Annapolis area reaching out not only to the city of Annapolis and the Naval Academy but the surrounding area as well. From this beginning, we pray that in the future God’s work will expand across the Chesapeake Bay into the Historic Eastern Shore of Maryland.
We ask for your prayers as we move forward. Please pray for the ministry couple who will lead the planting, pray for members of the mission team, pray for open hearts in the city of Annapolis and pray for the continued expansion of churches throughout Maryland. If God has put it on your heart to be part of a mission planting and to bring Good News to those who have not heard, we ask you to consider being part of the Annapolis Mission Team.
