The women’s ministry of the St. Georges International Church of Christ hosted a Women’s Day on May 28, 2016. It was our first such endeavor since the re-launch of the church in the summer of 2013, and God blessed us in an amazing way!
As sisters in the ministry we had started meeting once per month for a Women’s Bible Talk, and the idea for a Women’s Day was expressed as one sister shared that this was laid on her heart. And so all eight of us met together on the last Thursday of December 2015 to set our sights on what God could do. We decided on the theme for the event from Psalm 139:14, “You Are Woman, Wonderfully Made,” set a date, and prayed that as we had a budget of zero dollars, that God would allow us to sell tickets to 100 women and fill the auditorium for our Women’s Day.
Everyone prayed, and offered their time, energy and talents to our weekly planning meetings, and even the brothers got involved in inviting women to our event. God opened doors to help us afford the cost of the event, as one sister from the church in Trinidad and Tobago offered to design our flyers and tickets at no charge! With just a few weeks to go, something even more amazing happened: two sisters who were asked to consider being guest speakers, one from Trinidad and Tobago, and the other from Jamaica, both responded, saying that they would pay their own way to Grenada in order to come and serve us and the women here! 
At our midweek family time, a few days before the event, we all prayed that God would send out those women who needed to hear the messages from our speakers. On the night before the event, we stayed up way into the night, decorating the venue with our beautiful theme colors. The Saturday afternoon was bright and sunny, as were the smiles of the women of all ages and stages who made their way into the conference room for Women’s Day 2016. Our small band of eight sisters had almost 80 women in attendance!
Our wonderful guest speakers, Denyse Young from Trinidad and Tobago, and Claudette Patterson from Jamaica, both preached the Word and shared their lives vulnerably, with passion and tears. It was an afternoon filled with laughter and sober contemplation. The sisters in our congregation, including some whom are usually shy in front of crowds, denied ourselves to God’s glory, as we did the welcome and prayer, sang a theme song together, and even had a dramatic monologue.
All our prayers were answered, as many women were impacted, and many deep talks happened during our fellowship time after. Dozens of our guests wrote on our special “response cards” saying they were impacted and wanted more, and many desiring to learn more about the church, some even wanting to study the Bible and get baptized! 
We are so grateful to God and everyone who served and prayed for our Women’s Day, but especially our two amazing guest speakers who sacrificed their time, energy, love and finances to come and serve us in Grenada! All our prayers were answered, and we know that our Women’s Day went exactly how God wanted it to be. We are so thankful for the opportunity that we had to show our friends, co-workers and neighbors why we serve our awesome God, and inspire them to live for him as well!
Please continue to pray for the church in Grenada, and specifically for our women’s ministry, that out of our many friends we will find a few who truly desire a deeper relationship with God.
