God Moves in Mysterious Ways in Maine Featured

Sherry Phillips was the facility director at the very first facility we booked for the newly-planted Casco Bay Church of Christ in 2010. It was a great facility and we loved the space, but every Sunday the media center was locked, and only Sherry could unlock it. We ended up having to call Sherry almost every Sunday morning to resolve this problem.

He said, "Who are those people that keep calling every Sunday morning?" When she told him it was the Casco Bay Church of Christ, he was shocked because he realized that God was calling him out of his sin and back to him. Jim had been baptized in Pittsfield, MA as a young man, but had struggled in his faith and ended up leaving the family of God. He realized that God was giving him a second chance, and was excited to learn more about our congregation and the fellowship.

One Wednesday Sherry called me, but it wasn't about the facility. She and Jim asked if we could sit down together and have a spiritual discussion. Although Jim had a lot of biblical knowledge, Sherry had never studied the Bible before. We studied the Bible together for about a year, and eventually they realized they needed to be "all in" for God as a family. Sherry was baptized into Christ on November 30, 2013, and Jim was restored to the fellowship on December 1, 2013.

Both of them have been a huge encouragement, and have brought so much joy and strength to the saints in Casco Bay. God truly does determine the times and places where we should live, for the purpose of us reaching out and finding him. Praise God that the media center was locked all those Sundays! We no longer need to call Sherry on Sunday morning, because she is right there with us. To God be the Glory!
