As we close out our month of prayer for missions, I want to express my gratitude to all of you who have participated. It has been an exciting journey as we have traveled through Europe, New England and the Midwest together, beseeching our God in heaven for the souls of men and women in these great nations and regions.
I have personally been so encouraged by the Banks family in our region, who decided that they would participate in the month of prayer as a family. Steve, Claudia, Conor and Cheyenne met together daily to read the posts, talk about the area they were praying for and then pray as a family. What a great example for all of us to imitate!
And finally, many of us continue to be moved by the ongoing unrest in the Ukraine. Some have joined in the “Pray for Peace” campaign, asking God to bring peace to that nation, and perhaps through these trials to see many turn to him. It has been inspiring to hear about the perseverance of our brothers and sisters as they have faced economic difficulty, loss of employment and in some cases even loss of life.
I could not think of a better way to end our month of prayer than with an update from Shawn Wooten in Kiev. As King David prayed, we too ask God to ”Summon your power, O God; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before” -- Psalm 68:28.
So let’s continue to pray for missions. Perhaps you have made a special connection with a particular church, and you will set aside time on a weekly or monthly basis to pray and fast for them throughout the year. God will hear your prayers, the brothers and sisters will be grateful, and heaven will be different as a result!
