International Missions Friendships Make Impact

At a recent meeting of "missions zealouts" in Boston, brothers and sisters shared good news from the mission fields in the International Churches of Christ. Chris Efstathion from the Worcester Church of Christ shared about a single brother named Ben Buldoc, who decided that he would not focus his life on getting married but on serving God. He was content with being single, and wanted to use his gifts and flexible schedule to serve the poor in Albania. While on a trip to Albania, Ben met a disciple named Kela, who had the same ambition to remain single and serve the poor. Over time, through their shared dream, they worked together and continued to build a friendship. God had other plans for them, as they were married on December 15, 2013! Their dream is to return to Albania to strengthen the church and to make disciples.

We first give glory to God for the 96 people who were baptized or restored in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Church of Christ. This is the most we have seen in a 12-month period in the last eight years! It’s encouraging to see our campus ministries growing, with 31 of the baptisms being college students.

Birth of a New Church: Grand Strand ICOC planted in Myrtle Beach, SC

I cannot quite find the words to describe the feelings that swept over me recently as I worshipped God with the 208 souls gathered for the inaugural worship service of the newly planted Grand Strand Church. Disciples from half a dozen congregations came together in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Sunday, January 26 to celebrate what God is doing in this city. The windows of the ballroom where we worshipped looked out directly over the Atlantic Ocean - a fittingly glorious backdrop for a truly glorious day!

Ministry Training Program Hosted by Cincinnati Church

Last year the Cincinnati Church of Christ hosted its first ever Ministry Training Program. Because of the huge success of this program last year, CCOC is offering MTP again, from May 11 - June 4, 2014. This program is designed to foster Biblical understanding through in-class practicum and practical discipleship through on the field training. We brought in many evangelists from the Ohio Valley churches as well a special guest speaker: Doug Arthur. From the hard work of each participant and God’s power, eight people were baptized through this program! Information about MTP 2014 may be found at the end of this article, following these testimonies from a few of last year’s participants:

Miami School of Missions Continues to Grow

The Miami School of Missions (MSOM) kicked off 2014 with over 50 visiting ICOC church leaders from 14 different countries in Latin America and the Caribbean - what a way to bring in the New Year!  For those countries south of the equator, January is vacation time, but for these ministry and lay leaders in South America and the Caribbean, January is "back to school" time. They sacrifice time away from their families and home churches, traveling long distances to deepen their understanding of God's word and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood.
