We are faithfully praying for God to provide a diverse mission team of disciples who are eager to serve the needs of the church family and the community. The plan, Lord willing, is to plant the church in June of 2019 and imitate the incredible growth and success of the Eugene Church.
Following the Kelly and Cheryl Boyd's "Love God and Love your Neighbor" church leadership approach, we hope to see God bless the Bend planting with key disciples that can reach out to the large retirement demographic, the thriving young professionals community, and a college outreach on the local campuses (OSU-Cascades and Central Oregon Community College).
We feel so blessed that the Boyd's selected us to lead this incredible church planting. My wife was a kingdom kid and we have both faithfully served God in Eugene for the past five years. In that time, we also pursued our other passions and obtained degrees in film and nonprofit administration. Currently we reside in Eugene, Oregon (138 miles from Bend). Madison is employed as the church administrator, and I am co-leading the campus ministry and the church media production.
The University Church of Eugene will be our ongoing training grounds as we get closer to the planting date and the sponsor of the Bend mission team, along with the other Northwest Family of Churches. If the beauty of the area is not enough of an incentive, the Eugene church is making it even more amazing for One Year Challenge applicants by providing subsidized housing too.
Because of our background and experience in film and media, Bend also offers a novel ministry opportunity for disciples interested in the media production and training realm. By producing benevolence videos for local nonprofits and evangelistic videos for the mission team, we hope to engage the film community in Bend and offering six and twelve-month media ministry internship positions to disciples. You can move to Bend, join the team, learn to produce creative videos, learn to build church websites, and be trained in church media outreach. The skills you can acquire in Bend will give you a creative portfolio for the workforce and benefit your home church.
Much of the success of the Eugene Church is a result of having a well-balanced ministry. A specific desire for our team is finding one or more "mom and pop" couples, perhaps even empty nesters, who can move to Bend and provide the extra shepherding and life experiences that are so valuable for younger disciples.
