HOPE worldwide works in partnership with Foundation and Hospital Arco Iris. HOPE worldwide Bolivia recruits and trains volunteers for one year challenges within the social programs that include orphanages, vocational training programs and programs working vulnerable children who live or work on the streets of La Paz, Bolivia (estimated 30,000 children). Shorter term opportunities are available for those with medical experience volunteering within the programs of Hospital Arco Iris - a 100 bed, multi-specialty, teaching hospital for the poor. A volunteer must be fluent in Spanish.
We prefer self-supporting volunteers, but in special cases would consider providing financial support.
One-year volunteers for Foundation Arco Iris and its social programs are provided housing and some meals. Volunteers for Hospital Arco Iris would need to be self supporting (but the cost of living in Bolivia is very inexpensive; Bolivia is the second-poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.)
