Poem Addresses Blessings of Confession

Secret Sin

I share my faith

With most people I meet

I give to the poor

Especially beggars on the street

I read my Bible
Almost each and every day
If someone is struggling
I have encouraging things to say

I invite others to church
So the gospel can be heard
…But about my secret sin…
I haven’t breathed a word

Someday I’ll confess
But the timing must be right
I don’t want to be rebuked
Or given some deep insight

I want to be respected
Not viewed as one who’s weak
I know that I’ll be judged
If I decide to speak

God, please forgive me…
As only you can
I need to fear you
More than I fear man

I’ve focused on my deeds
The things that man can see
But you focus on my heart
And things done secretly

I must continue my deeds
So that others might be saved
But I must confess my sins…and repent
So that I’m no longer enslaved posted by Jerry Maday
