Typhoon Rammasun Battered the Philippines
Typhoon Rammasun struck the Philippines on Monday, July 14, with an estimated wind speed in excess of 80 mph. The typhoon came through the highest typhoon risk area, Albay Province, just north of Tacloban in Leyte; where Typhoon Haiyan devastated the region in November 2013.
This time the people of the Philippines were prepared thanks to multiple warnings issued by their National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). This preparedness system was put to the test as the center of the storm passed through the city of Legazpi.

Throw Open the Floodgates
The HOPE worldwide Granite State Chapter recently completed a successful food drive for End 68 Hours of Hunger, a New Hampshire not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing meal and snack supplies for food-insecure school children to help sustain them during the 68 hours from Friday afternoon through Monday morning, in which they do not receive free lunch and breakfast at school. Food-insecure families are so limited in their resources to buy food that they often reduce the quality of their food, cut out meat, feed their children unbalanced meals, or skip meals all together. Approximately 14.7% of New Hampshire’s children are food insecure (40,490 children) and approximately 139,910 adults. Studies show that helping families in this way this greatly improves a child’s future physical and mental health, academic achievement, and long term economic productivity.
Medical Professionals Needed for HOPEww El Salvador Brigade
The primary mission of the HOPE worldwide Community Service Brigades is to provide outpatient medical and dental care for the ICOC church family living in extremely poor Central American communities. But, anyone interested in working hard to bring some “faith, hope and love” to those in need of a compassionate helping hand is welcome to apply.
The Power of One Simple Idea
For Seth Mitchell, a member of HOPE worldwide’s National Youth Advisory Council (NYAC) and intern for the New York Metro Chapter, it started with one simple idea – to create understanding and a partnership between two distinctly different communities through creative collaboration. Seth pitched his idea of co-writing a play with the children at the Camden Street Elementary School in Newark, New Jersey to the Randolph High School Principal. Seth’s enthusiasm and his idea took wings and it was quickly embraced by the teachers and students of both schools.

A Student's Reflections on HOPEww's Global Summit
Thankful. Encouraged. Humbled. Inspired. These are some of the many emotions that I experienced during this year’s HOPE worldwide Global Summit. Though working alongside HOPE worldwide and changing the world seems like an impossible dream, God has been providing me with opportunities to make that dream a reality. The Global Summit only increased my desire to change the world -- with God’s signature all over it.
