The Boston Church of Christ enjoyed a great day of worship, focus on service to the poor and a fun fellowship lunch on May 20, 2012. Well over 1,500 adults and their children gathered outside to hear Biblical teaching from four Campus ministry interns during the Sunday worship service.
Following the worship service at Franklin Park, in Boston, the 6th annual Walk for HOPE took place. This was coordinated by Hope worldwide's Boston Chapter >>> The Walk for HOPE reintroduced a 5K run for the more energetic volunteers. Other volunteers followed as they walked around beautiful Franklin Park. The purpose of the Walk for HOPE was to raise funds in support of two local HOPE worldwide Chapter programs:
1) The Framingham Food Pantry which serves over 300 families per month and
2) A Saturday Academy program which serves elementary age children at the Mather School in Dorchester. The program occurs on Saturday mornings and teaches many life skills and educational courses that have been eliminated due to budget cutbacks in our state and local governments.
In addition, some funds will also be directed to the HOPE worldwide>>> charity which operates programs in over 100 countries around the world.
The day was a huge success due to the weather, great fellowship, delicious international food, and the fund raising efforts by many volunteers. Over $42,000 that has been turned in so far!
