People who are able to escape the hardest hit areas went to Cebu or Manila to stay with their families. Many arrived there only to be stranded at the airport. Then there are still others living in makeshift shelters constructed from debris who are trying to survive with very limited food, water, healthcare or electricity.
Relief efforts Initiated by HOPE worldwide
Since day one, HOPE worldwide Philippines responded quickly by mobilizing water, food, and lifesaving relief items to the affected communities. The in-country supplies were moved quickly while international supplies were quickly transported to support the efforts. HOPE worldwide disaster teams managed to provide relief in Cebu, Daan Bantayan, Tacloban, Ormoc, Bohol, and other hard-hit areas.
