Typhoon Haiyan Relief and Recovery: Looking Ahead
November 22, 2013 - Typhoon Haiyan has displaced 4.3 million people and the UN OCHA (United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) reports that 13.3 million are in need of assistance. The government of Philippines has confirmed 4,015 people died and 1,602 people are still missing two weeks after the disaster. It is also reported that 1.08 million houses were damaged.
HOPEww Philippines Disaster Response Update
November 20, 2013 – The scope of the devastation left in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan is unimaginable. In the Philippines, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported today:• 3,982 deaths,
• 3,997,129 are displaced,
• 18,266 survivors with injuries,
• 1,602 are still missing,
• 571,806 houses destroyed.
These numbers are expected to rise as more communities become accessible.

Ekaterinburg, Russia Gives Generously to Typhoon Relief
This month, the Eastern coast of the Philippines collapsed because of Super Typhoon Haiyan. Many disciples of Christ around the world continue to pray for this country and all victims. At the moment it is known that already more than 4000 people killed and many remain missing. Many thousands of people lost their homes and lost their relatives. HOPE worldwide circulated a request for assistance to victims, including the brothers and sisters of our churches.

Abidjan Church Donates to Philippines Relief
In 2011, International Churches of Christ around the world came together to help our churches in the Ivory Coast who were devastated by the civil war, through HOPE worldwide. ICOC Global Offering for Philippine Relief
On November 8, 2013, Super Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippines. It left massive destruction in its wake, and the 31 disciples in the city of Tacloban were forced to evacuate for their own safety. The call for help has rung out, and this video explains the severe situation that the disciples face, as well as provides information for how to donate to the HOPE worldwide relief efforts. ICOC and HOPEww Aid Typhoon Victims in Tacloban City
November 12, 2013 - Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) has impacted 11.3 million people in the Philippines. Many citizens are struggling to survive as they await aid. The city of Tacloban in Leyte is the worst of all. So far, the official death toll is at 1,798 and many fear the number may reach 10,000. The UN reported that 673,000 people are displaced from their homes and their survival depends on help reaching them quickly.
Philippines Update on ICOC Disciples
Volunteers of HOPE worldwide Philippines from Team Manila and Team Cebu have finally reached Tacloban City. We were all shocked by the massive destruction we saw. Streams of people were walking to get out of the city to seek shelter outside as most homes have either been totally destroyed or heavily damaged. There is a shortage of food and water so some residentshave resorted to looting food warehouses despite the declaration of martial law. The city looks like it was war ravaged or worst. The good news is we met the Christians there! The volunteers and Christians were overjoyed to see each other and for a moment there was that piece of heaven on earth! We gave out relief goods and first aid kits and water to the survivors who displayed such gratitude, that tears were flowing unashamedly from everyone.We are now on the way out of Tacloban with some 25 evacuees who will be heading to Cebu city by ferry. Except for one disciple whom we could not locate all are now safe and evacuating to Cebu. Thank you for all your prayers as we felt surrounded by angels as we went about the business of serving. The task is not done yet as the city of Tacloban needs help more than ever! We will send out a report on the needs soon. But let us continue to pray for survivors in the city as they face another night of uncertainty, hunger and even fear of criminal elements roaming about.
