The ACR recently hosted an elders and elders-in-training workshop, followed by a regional church service and Bible Jubilee taught by Gordon Ferguson. Read the reports below!
ACR Elders & Elders-in-Training Workshop
On Saturday, August 10th a group of almost 50 elders and elder's wives and elders-in-training along with their wives from around the ACR churches met in the Northern Virginia area for further training. The workshop was entitled, EXAMPLES TO THE FLOCK. Elders from the Northern Virginia Church (Randy McKean), the Montgomery Country Church (Ruben Marbury) and the Greater Philadelphia Church (Walter Evans) were speakers along with Kay McKean, an elder's wife. The special guest speaker was one of our premiere teachers in our movement, Gordon Ferguson. It is always inspiring to see young people aspire to do great things for God but it may be even more inspiring to see the 'older' among us to aspire to be more and do more for God! The future looks bright as more and more desire to lead and serve in God's kingdom.
All Virginia and All Maryland Bible Jubilee--REVELATION REVEALED
On Sunday, August 11th a group of 2250 people gathered in the Northern Virginia area for a life-changing Bible Jubilee on the book of Revelation entitled, "Revelation Revealed." Hosted by the Northern Virginia Church of Christ, Gordon Ferguson was the featured speaker. Gordon is presently the Director of the Pacific School of Ministry and is a world-class teacher and writer--his recently revised book on Revelation was used for this occasion. The idea for the Bible Jubilee was taken from Nehemiah 8 when the teacher, Ezra, taught all the people for about six hours. In verse eight it reads..."They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read."With the book of Revelation being so powerful but being so misinterpreted and so misunderstood, the three-hour event proved to be a time of truthful learning, a time of deep conviction and a time of uplifting inspiration. All the people embraced the revealed truth that the invisible God is the invincible God...that God is in control of the universe...that God is a deliverer from trials and persecutions...that God gives absolute security because victory is absolutely assured. All were encouraged to never stop, to never give up, to never give in, to never retreat, to never surrender. As the day ended in glorious singing, all found themselves joyfully shouting with the heavenly multitudes..."Revelation revealed!"
